2007 MEADA Events

February

  • Concerted effort from the entire MEADA coalition to look to the future and how we can begin raising awareness around other drugs. The “D” Campaign begins.
  • A new cinema ad is created and put into local theatres. This is the second cinema ad MEADA has done, with this one focusing on the message of “Making Hope Happen."

March

  • St. Michael-Albertville hosts first community event, focusing on MySpace and the Drugs of Today. About 600 people were in attendance
  • Otsego-Rogers MEADA hosted an event, ‘Booze & Weed’, at the Rogers High School. Over 500 people were attendance.

June

  • Movie in the Night events
  • 3rd Annual MEADA Golf Tournament at Wild Marsh in Buffalo, Minnesota. 100 golfers participated. The Buffalo Lions are gracious enough to help organize event and donated $7,000 to MEADA!

July

  • On July 20th, about 250 people came to the Movie in the park event in St. Michael
  • On July 21st, nearly 500 people attend the Movie in the park event in Buffalo at Sturges Park
  • Drug prevention messaging is utilized on prescription bags from local Cub Foods Pharmacies. Over 25,000 bags have been distributed with our message, “Don’t Let Controlled Substances Control Your Life. Get Educated About Substance Abuse and Do the WRIGHT Thing!”
  • MEADA hosts the Minnesota Teen Challenge Choir at the Wright County Fair on Sunday July 29th.

August

  • MEADA releases a new brochure for parents with information on prescription and over the counter (OTC) drugs. A new powerpoint has also been created and presentations will begin this fall with local schools.
